If you’re looking to find me, chances are you’re going to find me somewhere inside here…

So after I moved in my apartment, I realized that I needed to get someone to help me clean up the place. I just moved in after all, and the previous apartment tenants didn’t exactly leave the place as spiffy as I want it to be.
I did a search on Google and came across a whole bunch of cleaning services Vancouver. All of them looked pretty much the same to me except for one. This company is called Fresher Cleaning, and to be honest they’re one of the best Vancouver house cleaning services I’ve come across. This is pretty refreshing, considering everyone makes me want to call in for a quote. I hate getting sold over the phone, so I went ahead and booked an appointment with them.
I have to say their services are great! The cleaning team arrived right on time (they send 2 people at a time to make sure the service gets done quicker) and they really made sure to clean the apartment. Their teams cleaned up the place much, much better than I ever could. Cost a few hundred dollars but I think it’s definitely worth it — going with Merry Maids or Molly Maids would’ve cost me around $300 if their estimates are right. So while I did spend a bit of money I still ended up saving some too.
It’s great because now whenever I come home from roaming downtown Vancouver, I have a nice and spiffy place to relax in. Love it! I’ll be booking them again in a few weeks time since I know I’ll manage to mess it up again by then haha. Maybe I should also look for a Vancouver junk removal company for when I move out of this apartment?
After packing up all my stuff in a friend’s van and taking BC Ferries from Victoria, we finally arrived in the place that I’m going to call home from now on. It took us the better part of the day loading boxes into the van, driving, the boat ride and finally unloading everything, but I am now officially a resident Vancouver. Yay!
Me and my friends got really hungry after spending the day packing and unpacking, so as a “thank you” for their help I decided to treat them for a hearty afternoon meal. We found a Japanese restaurant not far from where I live (about a few blocks away) called Shabusen (actually it’s not really a pure Japanese restaurant because they had some Korean dishes as well). They’re located in Granville and West 14th Avenue, right next to Body Shop.
What an amazing restaurant! It turns out that it’s a pretty popular place here in Vancouver, because not long after we got in the place was PACKED. But I have to admit that while slightly pricey, the food is EXCELLENT.
They serve you raw meat and you cook your own food on the grill. So basically it’s a “make your own dinner” restaurant that brings out your inner Cooking Mama. Now this isn’t the place to go to if you’re looking for an in and out restaurant because it takes them a while to serve you your food. But since my friends were spending the night in Vancouver anyway (they missed the last ferry, so they’re just going to crash in my apartment) we had a great time eating and just catching up on times when we were all students in the University of Victoria before I got this gig doing online marketing.
I definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to be back again!
So I’m all packed and ready to drive out to Vancouver in 24 hours after living in Victoria for 21 years. I’m really excited about this new job opportunity that I have, plus it’s sort of exciting to be in the big city after living in Vancouver Island for so long.
It’s not a drastic move because I’m actually still staying in BC, and I’ve been to the city of Vancouver many many times before. However, I still don’t know a lot of people in the big city and I’m looking forward to seeing just how it’s like to settle down here. Plus I realize that a lot of people are wondering how it’s like to move to Vancouver, so I thought it would be fun to tell people about the whole experience in a blog.
I won’t be living downtown (it’s crazy expensive to rent even a 1 bedroom place!) but I’m renting an apartment near enough. I’ll be staying near Broadway and Granville, and it’s a pretty nice apartment. There’s a Chapters bookstore a couple of blocks nearby, which to be honest I’m really excited about since I’ve never really been so near a big bookstore before. I’m quite the book nerd, and I get hyped about little things like this, hahah.
The apartment I’m renting is furnished, but I’m thinking about hiring a maid service or something to clean up the place since the previous tenants didn’t really leave things in tip top shape. I’ll be looking around for one of those places later today.
That’s all for now. Got a little bit more last minute packing to do so I’ll update this more tomorrow!
